Pro-Life License Plate Unveiled

During the West Virginians for Life Convention Delegate Bobbie Warner, Chair of the House Roads and Transportation Committee and key sponsor of the pro-life license plate legislation, unveiled the new pro-life license plate (designed for the front of your car).

Pro-Lifers will not be Silenced!

During the final minutes of the 2001 session, legislation that would have created a special pro-life vanity license plate was sabotaged when it "disappeared" under mysterious circumstances and thereby denied thousands of pro-life West Virginians their First Amendment right to free speech. Stand up and be counted! Help us fund the legislative effort to re-introduce the license plate bill in 2002. For a donation of $10, WVFL now has a pro-life license plate for the front of your vehicle. Order your plate today!

Please send a pro-life license plate for $10.00 today.

Send me additional plate(s) for my family/friends.

Dear Pro-Life Friend,

According to Planned Parenthood, Morgantown needs an abortion clinic. You and I don’t agree. But what can we do?

Let me give you an important update on Planned Parenthood’s activities in our community. On June 25, a regional CEO from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) held an informational meeting in Morgantown. Its purpose: to announce a "feasibility study" to investigate the possibility of bringing a Planned Parenthood clinic into our area.

This is the Planned Parenthood that is the nation’s largest performer of abortions: almost 245,000 of the 1.3 million abortions in our country in 2003. That’s almost 20%! This is the same organization that promotes explicit and degrading sexual education from kindergarten through high school. (And CEO Walter Klausmeier promised that PPFA would attempt to get into local schools.) This is the Planned Parenthood that opposes all parental consent and notification laws for minor girls considering abortion. And this is the Planned Parenthood that is currently being investigated in three states for refusing to report potential cases of statutory rape and child abuse—even though all fifty states require healthcare workers to report any suspicions of such activity.

Our contention is that Planned Parenthood hurts girls in its irresponsible promotion of sexual activity, including sex that is illegal and potentially abusive. And, of course, it hurts girls by subjecting them to the violence of abortion, which is used to "take care" of the inevitable pregnancies that occur as the result of Planned Parenthood’s sexual philosophy.

A new group, Planned Parenthood Hurts Girls, has arisen to fight this monster. West Virginians for Life is playing an important role providing leadership and resources. Monongalia County Chapter president and WVFL staffer Mary Anne Buchanan is serving as the media liaison. We have a small window of opportunity to keep Planned Parenthood out of the Morgantown area!  We know that women and girls from all over north central West Virginia would come to a clinic in Morgantown. We would all be affected. But if we can demonstrate substantial popular opposition to this clinic, we can keep them out!

Join us in our educational efforts. Planned Parenthood Hurts Girls is planning to run an ad featuring the names of those who oppose this clinic. We need to have as much community support for this effort as possible. Our deadline for gathering names and donations is August 21. Any individual, organization, or business that contributes $100 or more will get a free copy of my book, Margaret Sanger’s Eugenic Legacy. It details the eugenic history of Planned Parenthood.

We hope you will make use of the following materials (they are attached as pdf files):
  • A bulletin insert that summarizes Planned Parenthood’s activities.
  • A summary of our educational materials.
  • A full-sized fact sheet that can be used to educate.
  • A petition. Please place copies of the petition in a prominent place in local churches.  If possible, enlarge the petition to legal size.
All petitions, donations, and signatures for the ad must arrive at the address below by August 21. (We can accept credit card donations on Paypal; checks should be made out to the Monongalia County Chapter of WVFL.)

We are encouraging churches and other organizations to hold educational events in July and early August to drum up support for the ad and for the petition. Please consider planning such events in your area. This is a great opportunity to educate our communities about Planned Parenthood and abortion! Planned Parenthood Hurts Girls has speakers that might be able to travel to your area.
We would also like to have a separate Pastors’ Ad and a separate Doctors’ Ad. Please contact us by August 21 if any of your local pastors and physicians would like to have their names in those ads.

As always, thank you for your pro-life efforts. May God bless our state and may He grant success to the work of our hands!
