West Virginia Bill to
Tighten Parental Notification on Abortion Appears Dead
On Tuesday, March 7th, the House of Delegates defeated a motion
supported by West Virginians for Life to bring the Parent’s Right to Know bill
to the House floor for a vote. The motion was defeated 38-61. Delegate Ferrell
was absent. All 32 Republicans and 6 Democrats (Frederick, Louisos, Miley,
Susman, Tucker and Dale Stephens) voted for the pro-life motion.
The bill passed the State Senate 32-2 on March 1. Senators Foster and McCabe
voted against passage.
West Virginians for Life will re-double its efforts to pass Parent’s Right to
Know next year.

New Study Shows Texas
Parental Notification Law Reduced Teen Abortions.
Thanks to all who prayed and made
phone calls, sent emails and letters. This update was unable to be sent just
days after the defeat due to email problems. Thanks for your patience.
Pro-Life Legislative Alert:
"Parent’s Right to
Know" bill (HB 4411, SB 519)
has been introduced in the West Virginia Legislature. The bill would require at least one parent to
be notified before a minor can have an abortion. Please
call or email your Delegates and Senators and ask them to support HB
4411,
SB 519, the "Parent’s Right to Know"
bill.
Please call the Capitol Switchboard at
1-877-565-3447 and leave messages for your legislators to
support the "Parent's Right to Know" bill.
Also, you can find the phone number and
email address for your House of Delegate members by

Some people we have been talking to heard the news that our
bill passed in the Senate and so they
think the fight is over. Not so. We
are back in the House where the fight
continues to the last day (Mar. 11) if
need be. Don't stop the calling and
emailing. Hear now the words of
Charlotte Snead, West Virginians for
Life President:
Paul writes to the Church, "having done
all, stand." Melissa and Brian are not
quitting, but they have done about all
that can be done. Now the Parent's Right
to Know Bill is in the hands of God and
the grassroots. None of us likes to make
phone calls, but if the
grassroots--that's us, folks-- don't
come through now, our daughters will
continue to get secret abortions without
our knowledge. I have noticed throughout
history that often God waits for a
man--He seeks a man to stand in
the gap. He says we have been made
co-laborers together with Him.
I spoke in a Church on Saturday and a
dear elderly lady obviously had made her
first call to a politician. She called
one guy--Tim Miley, in Harrison Co., and
he was so friendly, so happy to receive
her call, that she was encouraged. Then
she came to another who was not so kind
and gracious, in fact, he was a bit
uppity, as the old folks used to say.
She said he made her feel stupid and
like she was bothering him--so she
stopped calling before she finished her
other two delegates! I said: "Honey,
those guys work for you, they are paid
with your tax dollars, and they have to
listen to you!" (Well, they could slam
the phone down, but you get the point,
and if they slam the phone down too
often on their constituency they won't
be reelected, and they know it!)
The point is, if the Parent's Right to
Know is going to pass this year, it will
take God and the Grassroots. Soldiers of
the Lord, arise, get out of the caves
and go to battle. Call your delegates in
the House, get your friends to call
them. Below is a legislative alert from
WVFL with all the information. Please
make your calls before it is too late.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Call your Democrat
Delegates--even the ones we know to have
always been pro-life. These
calls may be made until we tell you
otherwise
.
We
need to contact democrats because
some democrats want to take the bill up
next year. We don't want to wait a year
because babies will die. If you have
called or emailed already, don’t be
afraid to do it again. These lawmakers
need to be bombarded or else Parent’s
Right to Know will be lost for another
year. The bill will amend
current law by removing provisions that
allow abortionists to authorize secret
abortions on underage girls and by
requiring that one parent be notified
before an abortion is to be performed on
a minor.
Call the Capitol switchboard at
1-877-565-3447. To call Delegate office
numbers directly (which I believe to be
quicker and more effective) or to email,
visit this link http://www.legis.state.wv.us/Districts/hd/hd.cfm and
click on your county.
Here is the message you should leave
when you call or email:
PLEASE PASS THE PARENT'S RIGHT TO KNOW
ACT THIS YEAR.
According to the National
Center of Health Statistics, 70% of all teenage
pregnancies are attributable to adult men. A true
Parent's Right to Know bill will close loopholes
allowing for sexual predators to take their victims
for secret abortions and then continue the
abuse. To hear the tape recording of what happened
when a 13-year old impregnated by a 22-year old man
called a Planned Parenthood clinic in Vienna, WV, go

provided. If you do not have DSL, the download
could take 15 minutes or longer.
